That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

A Cambridge institution with a slightly more tucked-away feel, the Bridge Street branch of Fitzbillies Bridge Street is perfect for when you want something classic without the queues of the main spot. Smaller and a bit calmer, it still delivers everything people come here for — proper coffee, brunch plates, and shelves lined with dangerously tempting baked goods.
This is the kind of place that fits neatly into a wander by the river — ideal for a pre-punt stop or a post-walk reset when you’re ready to sit down and stay a while. The menu is a little more compact here, but still hits all the right notes with breakfast, lunch, and plenty of cake-led decisions waiting to be made.
And then there are the Chelsea buns — the reason people detour, queue, and come back again. Sticky, sweet, and very much part of the Cambridge experience, they’ve been drawing people in for over a century.
It’s an easy indoor stop too, so you can head in together, grab a table, and properly pause — no rushing, no juggling leads at the door, just coffee, cake, and a moment to reset.
