ZOOM OUT TO EXPLORE

Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve is a vast raised bog about 10 miles west of Stirling and dogs are welcome to explore the accessible paths and boardwalk that wind across this remarkable landscape. Open all year round, the reserve offers a proper visitor experience with a sturdy boardwalk, viewing tower and picnic area, making it an easy and genuinely distinctive day out for walkers who want proper infrastructure rather than unmarked moorland.

The boardwalk keeps paws dry while you both take in the scale of Scotland's largest lowland raised bog and the viewing tower gives a striking vantage point across the moss. Dogs must be kept under proper control throughout the reserve and NatureScot asks that they're on a short lead or very close at heel if livestock are nearby.

There's an official car park at the entrance with space for cars and coaches, so getting started is straightforward. Stay on the designated paths and boardwalk, follow any seasonal site advice and enjoy a genuinely unusual outdoor walk that feels like a proper nature reserve day out rather than a quick circuit.
