Fonmon Castle

Fonmon Castle is a proper castle-and-gardens day out in the Vale of Glamorgan, close to Cardiff and genuinely welcoming to dogs across its grounds and gardens. Your dog is invited to join you on site on a short lead, exploring the outdoor spaces while you take in a historic fortified manor that's been occupied for over 700 years. The castle interior and Tea Room are reserved for humans only, but the gardens, grounds and woodland trail offer a straightforward indoor welcome for a proper sniff-and-stroll session.

It's the sort of place where the lead-and-bag logistics pay off because you're both part of the visit, not waiting in separate car parks. Opening is seasonal and event-based, with daily hours during the summer holidays from 10:00 to 16:00.

Tickets are sold online, so it's worth checking the current schedule before you head out. Dogs are welcome on site from January until early September, making it a rare properly dog-inclusive heritage attraction within easy reach of the city.
