Forde Abbey House & Gardens, just outside Lyme Regis, is a substantial historic estate offering a proper day out for dog owners who want beauty, space and a bit of heritage without leaving their dog at home. The gardens are famously beautiful and dogs on short leads are welcome to join you as you explore the grounds and visit the on-site visitor centre.

The house itself and the Abbot's Table Café are assistance-dogs only, but the gardens are the real draw here and your dog gets full access to those. There's also a shop and plant centre, plus free parking, so it's well set up for a morning or afternoon with your pup in tow.

It's a calm, dignified spot where the lead-and-sniff logistics are straightforward and the outdoor areas are generous. Perfect if you're after a slower-paced outing where dogs are genuinely welcomed rather than merely tolerated.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Free treats available

Doggy menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs on short leads are welcome in the evidenced public outdoor areas of the gardens and the visitor centre; only assistance dogs are permitted in the house and Abbot's Table Café.
