Framlingham Castle

Framlingham Castle is a 12th-century Norman fortress with extensive grounds near Southwold, managed by English Heritage. The castle sits within a grand defensive outer wall, with grounds offering a wall-walk for views across the Suffolk countryside, a picnic area and plenty of open space for dogs and their owners to stretch legs together. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the grounds and castle itself, making this a managed heritage day-out where your dog's access is straightforward and well-signposted.

The on-site café is off-limits at the counter (as it should be), but the picnic area gives you space to sit and eat undisturbed. Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere on site.

Parking is on-site with capacity for 30 cars; non-members pay admission. This is a proper destination visit rather than a quick park stroll—ideal for a Southwold day trip when you want heritage, outdoor space and clear dog rules all in one place.
