That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

This is one for the dogs who prefer a proper wander over a busy attraction. Gawthorpe Hall sits quietly in the Lancashire countryside, with woodland paths, open lawns, and that “we’ll just keep going a bit further” kind of energy.

The hall itself is a bit of a showpiece — all Elizabethan grandeur — but the real win here is outside. You’ve got over 40 acres of woodland, riverside edges, and long, easy loops where the dog can get into a rhythm without constant stop-start distractions. It’s peaceful, slightly under-the-radar, and feels more like a local secret than a headline attraction.

There’s no big café pull here, so this leans firmly into walk-first, snack-later territory. Think picnic, flask, or pairing it with a nearby town stop after. A gentle, reset kind of place.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Doggy Menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs on short leads are welcome in the gardens, grounds and woodland areas.
Only assistance dogs are allowed inside the Hall itself.
