Great Dixter House & Gardens

Great Dixter House & Gardens is a world-renowned historic garden and estate in Northiam, about nine miles from Rye. While the celebrated house and formal garden are reserved for guide dogs and assistance dogs only, your dog is genuinely welcome in the Loggia Café, the plant Nursery and across the wider estate. It's a thoughtful compromise that lets you experience one of England's most important horticultural sites without leaving anyone in the car.

The Nursery is open daily from 9am to 5pm and the Loggia Café serves Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4.30pm. The house and gardens themselves open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm and are closed Mondays except Bank Holidays. Dogs should be kept on lead in the car park.

Great Dixter offers a rare chance to visit a garden of international stature while keeping your dog beside you in the café and nursery areas. It's a practical option for a half-day outing when you want culture, plants and a cuppa without the usual compromise.
