That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Greys Court offers a wonderfully relaxed National Trust day out where both dogs and humans can stretch their legs among beautiful gardens and historic surroundings. Near Henley-on-Thames, this characterful estate centres on a Tudor house set within peaceful gardens and wider parkland that invite slower wandering rather than rushing between attractions.

The grounds are especially rewarding for dog owners, with plenty of space for a gentle explore while the human half of the partnership enjoys flower borders, orchard views and the quiet charm of a well-kept country estate. A tea-room on site provides the essential refuelling stop once the exploring is done.

It is the sort of outing where history, scenery and fresh air combine easily into a satisfying countryside escape just outside Oxford.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome on leads around the gardens and estate grounds, which means this is a very pleasant sniff-and-stroll destination rather than an off-lead zoomie arena. The house itself is assistance dogs only, so plan for scenic wandering, not stately interior tours.
