Grizedale is Forestry England's major forest day-out near Hawkshead, packed with forest trails, outdoor sculptures, a visitor centre, café and cycle hire. It's the kind of place where you can spend the morning on a long walk and the afternoon on a trail bike, without leaving the woodland. Dogs are welcome throughout the forest site and can join you on trails and sculpture areas.

Keep them under control and follow the forest dog code, which keeps everyone's day running smoothly. Lead-free wandering is part of the appeal here, though sensible recall is essential. The visitor centre and café are on site if you need shelter or a drink.

Parking is pay-on-exit; charges apply, though members park free. This is one of the strongest dog-friendly forest visits in the Hawkshead area, ideal for a full day out when the weather cooperates.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are allowed throughout the forest site on trails and outdoor visitor areas. Keep dogs under control and follow Forestry England's forest dog code.
