Harnham Water Meadows

Harnham Water Meadows is an 84-acre historic water-meadow landscape beside the River Avon, just south-west of Salisbury. This working conservation site preserves centuries-old flood irrigation channels and remains an active demonstration of traditional meadow management.

Access with dogs is by arrangement with the trustees and public open days and guided tours are advertised through the year. The site is not a casual drop-in walk; visiting with your dog requires prior arrangement, though the Town Path runs along the edge of the meadows and offers a public right of way.

Open days give a chance to explore the full meadow system, learn about the drowner's craft and see how water shapes this ancient landscape.
