Hayes is a proper Lake District garden centre day out, the kind where you arrive for "one plant" and leave with a trolley full of optimism. Expect plenty of plants, home and garden bits, seasonal displays, and the gentle joy of mooching without a strict plan. It sits nicely for Ambleside days when you want something calmer between walks, or when the weather has decided you're doing "indoors with coffee" instead of "up a fell".

Dogs welcome inside, which is ideal because your dog will treat the whole place like a slow-motion parade of new smells and new friends. Keep them close, especially around narrow aisles and anything that could be tail-swiped into history.

A useful stop for dog-friendly browsing when you need a break from the fells, with enough variety to keep humans entertained and enough sniff potential to keep paws interested.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Free treats available

Doggy menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while you browse the seasonal display.
