That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Heights of Abraham is a proper Matlock Bath adventure, with dogs welcome to ride the cable cars for free before exploring the 60-acre hilltop estate. Think sweeping Derwent Valley views, woodland walks, exhibitions, picnic spots and plenty of "yes, the dog came up in a cable car" photo opportunities.
Dogs can join you around the estate, in the gift shops and exhibition buildings, and inside the café, making it a brilliant dog-friendly day out with more than just a quick wander. They can't go into the underground caverns, but the Waggy Tails Trail gives one half of the group a lovely dog walk while the other heads underground.
Fair swap, very democratic, mildly waggy, and a day out that keeps paws and people together for most of the adventure.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome on the cable cars and around the estate on a lead, and they can come into the café, gift shops and exhibition buildings too. They can't join you in the underground caverns or the Vista Restaurant, but the Waggy Tails Trail means nobody has to do pavement duty while the humans explore below ground.
