Heights of Abraham is a proper Matlock Bath adventure, with dogs welcome to ride the cable cars for free before exploring the 60-acre hilltop estate. Think sweeping Derwent Valley views, woodland walks, exhibitions, picnic spots and plenty of “yes, the dog came up in a cable car” photo opportunities.

Dogs can join you around the estate, in the gift shops and exhibition buildings, and inside the café, making it a brilliant dog-friendly day out with more than just a quick wander. They can’t go into the underground caverns, but the Waggy Tails Trail gives one half of the group a lovely dog walk while the other heads underground. Fair swap, very democratic, mildly waggy.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome on the cable cars and around the estate, as long as they are kept on a lead. Dogs can go into the exhibition buildings, gift shops and café, but they are not allowed in the underground caverns, inside the Vista Restaurant or on the Vista balcony.
