ZOOM OUT TO EXPLORE

Indoor Welcome Last Verified:

14 Sept 2026

Hinton Ampner is a National Trust country house and garden estate near Winchester, with formal gardens, parkland walks and visitor facilities where dogs are welcome on short leads through most of the outdoor areas and selected indoor spaces. Your dog can join you on short leads through the garden and estate and also inside the shop and second-hand bookshop.

Water bowls and waste bins are provided around the site and there's free on-site parking. The house and café are assistance-dogs-only, so plan for outdoor exploring and a browse of the bookshop rather than a full indoor day.

Open daily from 10am to 4pm, Hinton Ampner works well for dog owners who want a National Trust outing that combines garden paths, estate exploring and a bit of lead-and-bag-friendly retail without splitting the group. The estate offers enough space for a proper walk and the shop welcome means you can pick up a guidebook or a second-hand novel without leaving anyone in the car.
