Holyrood Park

Holyrood Park is Edinburgh's iconic 350-acre upland landscape centred on Arthur's Seat, offering everything from easy woodland paths to proper hill walking through historic grounds. Free to access and managed by Historic Environment Scotland, it's packed with visitor infrastructure: ranger services, walking trails, wildlife spots, lochs and genuine history without the faffing around with tickets. Dogs are welcome throughout the park on paths and open ground.

Keep them under control, bag after them and watch for lead signs during bird nesting season—a straightforward set of rules that lets you walk properly rather than pacing a loop. The whole landscape is designed for day-long exploration, so you've got the space to let dogs stretch without feeling rushed.
