Hopetoun House is a grand historic estate near Edinburgh and South Queensferry, home to a stately house, parkland and grounds spanning generations of Scottish heritage. Dogs are very welcome on the grounds on a lead, making it a real half-day or day-out destination for anyone wanting to combine a country visit with uninterrupted dog company. The ticketed grounds offer space for a proper walk with your dog and there's free visitor parking whether you're taking the House and Grounds ticket or grounds-only access.
The estate runs a seasonal visitor calendar, so check opening dates before you travel. This is somewhere to spend real time – not a quick stop.
Assistance dogs are welcome inside the House, though pet dogs must remain in the grounds. If you're planning a day out where your dog gets genuine walking time while you explore heritage and landscape in one place, Hopetoun works well.
