Horseshoe Falls

Horseshoe Falls is a crescent-shaped weir on the River Dee just west of Llangollen, built in the 1800s to feed the Llangollen Canal and now a quietly impressive heritage attraction reached on foot along the canal towpath. Dogs are welcome on the towpath under close control, making this a scenic waterside walk with an engineering landmark at the end rather than just another loop of the hills. The site is accessible 24 hours daily and the towpath approach keeps it practical year-round—no gates, no tickets, just the steady company of narrowboats and the sound of water spilling over the horseshoe lip.
