Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Indoor Welcome Last Verified:

Houghton Hall & Gardens is a grand country estate near King's Lynn where dogs on short non-extendable leads are welcome in selected outdoor areas and a few indoor spaces. You can walk the deer park's East Front short grass, explore the Old Stables Courtyard and historic stables, visit the Gift Shop and settle in the Stables Café garden area. Dogs aren't permitted in the Hall, Walled Garden, Contemporary Gallery, West Front, Soldier Museum or churchyard, so it's a day out that splits nicely between your outside-with-the-dog time and your nip-inside-for-culture moments.
The estate opens seasonally on published open days, with House entry from midday and typical visiting hours from 11:00 to 17:00. Free on-site parking takes the hassle out of arrival and the deer park setting means keeping your dog close and calm around young deer is part of the deal.
It's a proper stately-home visit with sculpture, café facilities and enough outdoor breathing space to make the lead restrictions feel fair. Just plan your route around the no-go zones and you'll both have a good day.
