How Hill Trust

How Hill Trust is a heritage estate in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, set beside the River Ant near Ludham and a short drive from Norwich. The estate's two gardens – the Secret Gardens and House Gardens – are open to dog owners on leads, offering peaceful paths, seasonal planting and views across the reed-edged waterways. The house itself welcomes guide dogs only, so this is very much a grounds-only destination for ordinary pet dogs.

The Secret Gardens are usually open daily from 1 April to 31 October, weather permitting, making this a lovely seasonal outing when the Broads are at their best. There's an official public car park on site with a suggested donation of £3, so you can arrive, pay the parking, clip on the lead and explore without fuss.

The gardens may close during school or group residence periods and events, so it's worth checking ahead if you're making a special trip. This is a proper Broadland estate visit rather than a quick green-space stop and the fact both gardens welcome dogs on leads makes it a practical choice for anyone exploring the Broads with a curious nose in tow.
