Ilam Park is one of the loveliest dog-friendly days out near Ashbourne if the plan is fresh air, big views and a walk that can be as gentle or as leg-stretchy as the dog demands. This National Trust spot sits right on the edge of Dovedale and the White Peak, with riverside paths, open parkland, woodland and those wide Derbyshire views that make humans stop for photos while the dog gets on with the serious business of sniffing everything.

It works especially well for visitors on a dog-friendly break because you can keep things easy with a parkland potter or build in a longer route towards Dovedale if everyone is feeling ambitious. Dogs do need to stay on a lead throughout the outdoor spaces, and they're also welcome at the Grab & Go outlet, so nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle.

Expect scenic wandering, plenty of space and a dog who is absolutely certain this is what holidays were invented for.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Doggy Menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome in all outdoor spaces but need to stay on a lead. They're also welcome at the Grab & Go outlet, so the whole day can stay nicely dog-inclusive without anyone being parked outside.
