Inverlochy Castle is a 13th-century stone ruin on the edge of Fort William, managed by Historic Environment Scotland and open year-round with on-site parking. The castle itself is currently closed for conservation and viewed through protective fencing, but the grounds remain freely accessible for a short heritage walk with your dog.
Dogs are welcome in all the open outdoor areas and around the castle ruins, kept on a lead at all times. The site is straightforward grounds-only access—no roofed buildings are open to dogs, in line with the standard HES policy.
It's a useful quick stop if you're already in Fort William and want a 20-minute wander with a bit of Highland history, especially when the weather's holding. Parking is available on site, making it easy to pull in, stretch legs and let your dog sniff around a proper medieval ruin without needing half a day.
