Kendal Castle is a hilltop ruin in Kendal that turns an ordinary walk into a mini adventure, complete with dramatic views and the occasional "why did we choose the steep bit?" moment. The remains are wonderfully atmospheric, the scenery is the real showstopper, and the whole place has that windswept, storybook feel that makes your dog look like the hero of a very muddy quest.

It's a great stop for stretching legs, taking photos, and getting a proper sense of the town and surrounding fells from above. Bring sturdy shoes, a snack, and a willingness to pretend you're not out of breath when someone jogs past smiling. Your dog will patrol the stones like a tiny guardian and then demand a treat for their services.

It's outdoorsy, free-feeling, and gloriously unfussy—perfect for dogs who enjoy a proper ramble and humans who appreciate a view that's worth the climb.
