That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Tucked just off the market square and right by the Minster, this is one of those proper, no-nonsense pubs that does exactly what you want it to. Think real ales, hearty plates of food and a steady hum of locals and visitors all mixing together.
Inside, it leans traditional and welcoming, with a cosy bar feel that works just as well for a quick drink as it does for settling in properly. There’s also a large beer garden out back when the weather behaves, giving you that easy “one more round” energy after a town wander. It’s the kind of place where the dog can flop down while you reset before heading back out again.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs welcome inside 🐾 A proper pub welcome with space to settle, water likely appearing without asking, and plenty of interesting floor-level smells to investigate. Expect a relaxed stop where nobody’s blinking if the dog fully commits to a mid-pub nap.
