Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow near Newby Bridge is a substantial motoring museum where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome throughout all the exhibits. You can spend a proper hour or two exploring the collections together without leaving anyone in the car and the museum's café, Café Ambio, allows dogs in some areas so you can take a break mid-visit. The museum is open daily except Christmas Day, with longer hours from April to early November and slightly earlier closing through the winter.
Free parking is available in the large customer car park immediately opposite the entrance, which makes arrival straightforward even when you've got lead, bags and a keen museum-goer in tow. Dogs must stay on the lead at all times and the usual Dangerous Dogs Act restrictions apply.
Owners are responsible for cleaning up any accidents immediately and dogs can't be left unattended in vehicles. It's a genuinely dog-friendly indoor day out in South Cumbria and rare enough to be worth the trip.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Free treats available

Dog Policy:
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in all parts of the museum and some areas of Café Ambio. Dogs must not be left in vehicles and owners must clean up any fouling immediately.
