Llanblethian Castle

Llanblethian Castle is a ruined medieval castle near Cowbridge, open daily with free entry and a small on-site car park at the entrance. Dogs are welcome on short leads to explore the ground floor levels and open site areas, making it a straightforward heritage outing for history-loving hound owners. The Cadw site is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00, 1 April to 31 March, with dogs permitted across accessible ground-floor sections.

Upper and unstable ruin areas are restricted, so keep your dog close to avoid crumbling stonework and narrow lanes. It's a compact visit with plenty of atmosphere and no need to book.

The castle sits about half a mile south of Cowbridge, within easy reach of Porthcawl and the Vale of Glamorgan countryside. With free parking, no admission charge and a clear short-lead policy, it's the sort of quick heritage stop that fits neatly between longer walks or a dog-friendly café.
