Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Loch an Eilein is a stunning lochside heritage attraction in the Rothiemurchus Estate, just outside Aviemore. The draw is a picturesque loch overlooked by the ruins of a 13th-century island castle, with marked paths around the shore and through ancient Caledonian pinewoods. Dogs are welcome outdoors in the evidenced public outdoor areas, making it a superb day-out destination when you want scenic walking and a proper Scottish Highland setting without leaving your dog behind.
There's a designated dog exercise area where dogs can stretch their legs off-lead and the estate asks visitors to keep dogs under control on paths and public areas, clear up after them and be mindful of nesting birds and wildlife. The combination of heritage interest, manageable paths and clear dog-friendly policy makes this a strong stop for owners who want more than a standard woodland loop.
The attended car park is open daily and there's a parking charge. Loch an Eilein sits less than three miles south of Aviemore, so it's easily reached and pairs well with other dog-friendly stops in the area.
