Loggerheads

Loggerheads in Shrewsbury is a traditional pub with serious old-building charm and the kind of history that gives a simple pint a bit more atmosphere. Dogs are welcome in three of its four public rooms, including the former Gents Only Room — despite the name, women have been allowed in since 1975 and dogs have apparently made the cut too.

The pub dates back centuries and feels like a proper beer house rather than a polished modern bar, with real ale, good food and traditional pub games adding to its character. Dogs can also join you in Poets’ Corner and The Lounge, but not in the smallest room, The Bar, where limited space means four paws are two too many.

Water bowls are available inside, with another at each entrance, and gravy bone treats are kept on hand for four-legged visitors. Classic pub energy with a bit of heft behind it, plenty of character and three whole rooms in which dogs can make themselves comfortably at home.
