Longdendale Nursery is a proper old-school plant nursery just off the A6 in Chapel-en-le-Frith, growing hardy plants that are built for High Peak weather rather than pampered greenhouse drama. Family-run since 1953, it specialises in tough, well-established plants, shrubs, hedging, veg plants, bedding and hanging baskets, with plenty grown on site at 650ft above sea level.
Dogs are welcome to join you on a lead as you browse, which makes it an easy, no-split stop when you’re out exploring with them. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time, get practical advice, and wander between plants without rushing back to the car.
A lovely, down-to-earth stop for gardeners who want sturdy plants, local knowledge, and something that will actually survive a Peak District mood swing 🌿

Dogs are welcome at Longdendale Nursery. Keep them close while browsing so tails, leads and plant pots can all survive the visit peacefully.
