Lyme - National Trust

Set on the edge of the Peak District near Buxton, Lyme is a National Trust estate where dogs are welcome inside designated areas and across thousands of acres of parkland, woodland trails and open moorland. The grand house watches over sweeping views, shaded paths and gentle wander routes, so it works whether you're after a big hike or a slower scenic loop with plenty of sniff stops along the way.

Dogs are welcome throughout the estate and formal gardens on a lead, with designated off-lead areas where they can properly stretch their legs. When it comes to stopping for food or a drink, there's indoor dog-friendly seating in the Muddy Paws Engine House and parts of the Ale Cellar, plus a "doggy doorbell" system at the café so you don't have to leave your dog unattended while ordering. Water bowls are provided, and the whole setup feels thoughtfully designed around exploring together rather than splitting up.

It's the kind of place where you arrive for a walk and end up staying for hours — a proper reset spot where dogs can roam, settle, and be part of the whole day rather than an afterthought.
