That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Set on the edge of the Peak District near Buxton, Lyme is one of those places that feels less like a quick stop and more like a full day out waiting to happen — sweeping parkland, woodland trails, open moorland and a grand house watching over it all.
The estate stretches out across thousands of acres, giving dogs (and their humans) plenty of space to roam, sniff and properly stretch their legs. You’ve got a mix of wide-open views, shaded woodland paths and gentle wander routes, so it works whether you’re after a big hike or a slower, scenic loop.
For dog owners, Lyme stands out because it doesn’t just tolerate dogs — it’s built around being able to explore together. Dogs are welcome throughout the estate and formal gardens on a lead, with designated areas where they can go off-lead and properly enjoy the space.
When it comes to stopping for food or a drink, there are a few thoughtful touches that make things easier. There’s indoor dog-friendly seating in areas like the Muddy Paws Engine House and parts of the Ale Cellar, plus a “doggy doorbell” system at the café so you don’t have to leave your dog unattended while ordering.
It’s the kind of place where you arrive for a walk and end up staying for hours — a proper reset spot where dogs can roam, settle, and be part of the whole day rather than an afterthought.
