Lynford Water

Lynford Water is a Forestry England waterside destination near Mundford, about 19 miles from Bury St Edmunds, where dogs are welcome across the open site and around the lake. There are no waymarked walking trails or easy-access routes, so it feels more like a free-roam exploration than a managed loop and the setting draws visitors for stand-up paddleboarding, nature-watching and a break from town life with the dog in tow.

Dogs are allowed throughout the grounds and lakeside areas, though Forestry England asks owners to keep them under control and be cautious around the water if flea treatments have been applied recently. There's no indoor visitor centre or café confirmed for dog access, so this is an outdoor day out focused on the waterside and open land.

On-site parking is available with charges and accessible spaces are provided. The site is open dawn to dusk daily and the mix of open water, wildlife interest and unstructured space makes it a useful escape when you and the dog need room to roam without crowd pressure.
