Malleny Garden is a National Trust for Scotland property in the countryside near Edinburgh, where the wider woodland offers genuine dog-friendly walking. Set on historic grounds with mature specimen trees, it's a working garden destination with the walled area off-limits to most dogs, but the surrounding woodland is where the real dog day out happens.

Dogs on short leads are welcome throughout the wider woodland, making this a useful Edinburgh-side escape for lead walking and sniff breaks among the trees. The woodland pathways give dogs a proper outdoor experience without the indoor gallery queues or cramped visitor-centre logistics.

This is a paid admission site with membership options and limited free parking on site, plus public bus access from Edinburgh city centre. It's a solid half-day outing for dog owners who want a garden destination with genuine woodland access rather than a dogs-in-tow garden tour.

Dog Policy:

Dogs on short leads are welcome in the wider woodland. Only assistance dogs are permitted in the walled garden.
