Margam Country Park

Margam Country Park is a 1,000-acre country park and heritage estate near Porthcawl, built around an 11th-century castle, formal gardens and sweeping parkland. It's the kind of day out where your dog can join you for most of the adventure—on lead through the Historic Deer Park, Formal Gardens, Farm Trail and castle grounds and off-lead in designated open areas like the East Lodge Star Field and behind the castle. The Fairytale Village, Gift Shop and Charlotte's Pantry café all welcome dogs, though children's play areas remain out-of-bounds.

Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, the park offers a proper full-day visit with plenty of variety. The café serves until 17:00 and the gift shop keeps similar hours, weather permitting. Pay-and-display parking is available on site.

Dogs must stay with you at all times and can't be left unattended. Leads are required in the formal areas, but once you reach the open fields, there's freedom to roam. It's a well-managed estate with clear dog rules and enough space to keep both ends of the lead happy.
