Micro Roastery

Micro Roastery is one of Canterbury's original speciality coffee spots, tucked along St Margaret's Street with a working roastery connection in nearby Aylesham. It started life in 2011 with a tiny roaster in a garden shed before growing into a full café in 2013, and that independent, hands-on approach still runs through everything they do. Dogs are welcome inside, so everyone can settle in together while the coffee does its work.

The focus is firmly on quality, sourcing beans from around the world and roasting them with care to bring out distinct flavour notes, whether you're after something smooth and chocolatey or brighter and fruit-led. Expect expertly made brews, a selection of cakes including vegan options, and a steady stream of regulars who clearly know what they're coming for. Inside, it has that slightly understated, almost "you need to know it's here" feel, but once you're in, it opens up into a relaxed, no-frills space with a real focus on the coffee itself.

It's the kind of place that turns a quick coffee stop into a bit of a ritual, especially if you care about what's in the cup. Dogs can join you while you refuel, likely settling in like seasoned regulars.
