Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Indoor Welcome Last Verified:

Montacute House is a grand Elizabethan estate near Yeovil, managed by the National Trust, with formal gardens, parkland walks and a café courtyard where dogs are welcome. The house itself is assistance dogs only, but ordinary pet dogs can explore the garden, parkland and the courtyard outside the café, making it a proper day out for dog owners who want grand architecture without leaving their four-legged supervisor behind. The parkland routes include Ladies' Walk and St Michael's Hill, where dogs on leads are welcome with livestock-control rules in place.
Short leads are required on garden paths and the usual courtesy applies around livestock. Free on-site parking takes the sting out of arrival logistics.
Open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Montacute House offers the rare combination of historic grandeur and genuinely useful outdoor dog access. Your dog won't get to admire the Long Gallery, but they will get a proper sniff around one of Somerset's most beautiful estates.
