That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Montpellier Gardens in Cheltenham is the kind of place where a simple walk turns into a gentle loop… then another. The dog hears tennis balls popping, music drifting from the bandstand, and the steady rhythm of people strolling with nowhere urgent to be.

Set within Cheltenham’s Regency heart, the gardens blend open space with just enough going on to keep things interesting. The southern side leans more lively, with tennis courts, a café, and family-friendly spaces, while the northern section opens out into wider lawns perfect for slower wandering, sitting, and watching the day unfold.

There’s a little bit of everything tucked in. A small arboretum for curious noses, seasonal events and summer concerts at the bandstand, and plenty of benches for those “we’ll just sit for a minute” moments that rarely stay short.

It’s not a rush-through park. It’s a drift-through, pause, and stay-a-while kind of place.
