Mugdock Country Park is a substantial dog-friendly open-space destination just north of Glasgow, spread across 750 acres of woodland, moorland and historic parkland. The grounds include castle ruins, waymarked trails, lochside paths and visitor facilities including a café, shop and gallery. It's the kind of place where a full day out with the dog feels properly feasible without the constant lead-and-bag shuffle of town walks.
The park opens all day every day, with car parks open from 9am to 6pm. Dogs are welcome throughout the grounds and the sheer variety of terrain means you can tailor the route to your dog's mood—gentle loch loop or a longer moorland circuit. The visitor centre area gives you somewhere to pause between sniff breaks, though it's the outdoor space that does the real heavy lifting here.
Mugdock sits just outside Milngavie, so it's an easy escape for Glasgow dog owners who need proper tree cover, actual hills and enough space for a tired Spaniel by teatime. The ruins add a bit of historical interest, but mostly it's about reliable outdoor access and room to roam.
