National Trust - Wray is a very good option for a dog-inclusive outdoorsy stop, especially if you want scenery without having to commit to a full epic hike. Highlights include easy lakeshore access via a shingle beach and waymarked parkland trails starting from the castle, giving it that flexible “little stroll or bigger wander” usefulness. There is also a strong Beatrix Potter connection in the wider estate story, which adds a nice layer of Lake District character to the visit.
