No 28 The Cookery is a little café gem near Ilfracombe harbour that takes comfort food seriously, from cream teas to savoury treats that feel like a proper holiday reward. Dogs are welcome both inside and out, so everyone can refuel together over great coffee, loose-leaf tea and something baked that makes you momentarily forget your phone exists.
It is a friendly, relaxed place that works particularly well after a walk, when the dog is pleasantly tired and the humans are ready to sit somewhere warm and unhurried. Different dietary needs are catered for and the genuinely thoughtful dog welcome includes water bowls, a cosy blanket, free treats and puppuccinos.
It is also an excellent "one more stop" before heading back to the car, giving everyone time to regroup and reset. Expect good food, happy humans and a dog who has already accepted several treats but is still prepared to swear under oath that nobody has fed them all day.
