Oxford Island National Nature Reserve and Lough Neagh Discovery Centre offers a genuine outdoor day out near Armagh, with hides, a marina, bushcraft centre and varied habitats across a large lakeside reserve. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor reserve paths and grounds, kept on a lead and away from the waters' edge to protect wildlife and waterfowl.
The reserve is open daily, with summer hours extending until 9pm and winter hours until 6pm, while the Discovery Centre itself is open Wednesday to Sunday. You'll find surfaced paths, wildlife gardens and plenty of sniff-worthy territory for a proper explore, whether you're birdwatching from the hides or simply enjoying the lough-side landscape with your four-footer in tow.
It's a strong choice for dog owners who want more than a quick walk—interpretive trails, seasonal bushcraft activities and the scale of the reserve give you space to spend half a day or longer. Parking is available on site, accessed via Kinnego Embankment and the outdoor welcome is clear and well-suited to lead walks in a protected natural setting.
