Painshill is an 18th-century landscape garden near Cobham, set within 158 acres of carefully restored parkland, sweeping lawns and serpentine lake walks. Dogs are very welcome on the landscape and must stay on a short fixed lead at all times. They're excluded from the Kitchen Garden and some special events unless otherwise advised, but the rest of the grounds are theirs to explore alongside you.
The estate opens Monday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, with seasonal variations through the year. There's an on-site car park that closes when the property closes, so plan your visit accordingly. From grotto paths to woodland trails, there's plenty to sniff out across this historic landscape.
Whether you're after a peaceful lead walk through manicured gardens or a longer afternoon exploring the lakeside circuit, Painshill gives you and your dog room to roam together. The short fixed lead rule keeps everyone safe around water, wildlife and other visitors and means you can both settle into a calm, distraction-free wander through one of Surrey's most atmospheric heritage landscapes.
