Pakenham Water Mill is a historic working watermill just east of Bury St Edmunds, where dogs can join you on the riverside walk and around the grounds while you explore the surrounding estate. The mill itself is guide-dog only, but the peaceful riverside path from the car park offers a proper sniff-and-stretch break alongside a genuine working attraction.

The mill opens Thursdays and weekends, with guided tours running until 45 minutes before closing and a tearoom and shop on site for human visitors. There's ample free parking, so the whole arrival and departure routine stays straightforward even when the weather turns or the lead situation gets tangled.

This is a practical stop when you want a bit of heritage and a walk that doesn't feel like an afterthought. Dogs must stay clear of nesting water birds and wildlife on the riverside path, but otherwise it's a calm, clear-cut outdoor welcome at a proper piece of working Suffolk history.
