That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Penrose is a National Trust estate just outside Helston, within easy driving distance of Truro and a proper dog-friendly day-out destination that combines parkland, woodland, mapped walking trails and a beach at Loe Bar. Dogs are welcome across the estate's public outdoor areas, including the outdoor seating area at The Stables kiosk, which means everyone stays together for post-walk refreshments without the usual doorway logistics.
There are several car parks dotted around the estate, including Penrose Hill and the Helston Fairground public car park, so arrival is straightforward. The trails are varied enough to keep noses busy and the option to build in Loe Bar beach or a kiosk stop makes it feel more like a structured visit than a generic wander.
Dogs need to be on a short lead around livestock, but otherwise the whole estate is yours to explore. It handles weather changes well, with enough cover for drizzle and open space when the sun appears, which makes longer visits comfortable for both ends of the lead.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs welcome across the estate; keep on a short lead around livestock. Dogs allowed at Loe Bar and in the Stables kiosk seating area.
