Pickering Castle is a proper historic day-out stop, sitting above the market town with big countryside views and plenty of medieval atmosphere. It is known for its keep, chapel exhibition and the chance to mooch round castle grounds that still feel wonderfully rugged. It suits history-loving humans and dogs who enjoy pretending ancient earthworks were made for important sniff-based inspections.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome on leads in the grounds, so this one is great for history lovers who travel with a four-legged sidekick. Ancient walls, big views, and a dog who believes they are inspecting the castle for security reasons.
