Portchester Castle

Portchester Castle is a substantial English Heritage site on the Hampshire coast, with a Norman keep, exhibition space, inner and outer baileys and picnic grounds. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the site, including the ground-floor exhibition inside the keep, making it one of the more genuinely dog-inclusive historic attractions in the South East. The castle runs open daily from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4.30pm.

Advance tickets are available from English Heritage. Charged parking is available 200 metres from the entrance, though it's not managed by the castle itself.

Dog bowls and toileting areas are noted on the facilities page and the lead-on policy applies everywhere. It's a proper half-day out with your dog, combining Roman walls, medieval stonework and waterside air without the usual exhibition-only exclusions.
