Pump House in Hastings is an independent café and deli set inside a restored Victorian pumphouse building in Alexandra Park. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while you browse the deli counter or settle in with coffee and something from the menu.

The café serves breakfast and lunch daily until 4pm, with a menu that includes quiche, salads, hot dishes and pastries alongside speciality coffee, cakes, beer and wine. There's also a sunny terrace with dog bowls ready, which makes it a popular stop for park walkers and anyone who's promised their dog a proper outing.

Perfect when you want a relaxed café with proper food, a deli to browse and a setting that feels more interesting than the usual high street, with paws and people welcome together inside or out on the terrace.
