The Queens Head is a 17th-century coaching inn in Troutbeck, just outside Windermere, where dogs are welcome inside the bar and restaurant. After a fell or valley walk, the whole group — paws included — can settle in without anyone being left in the car.
The kitchen runs seven days a week, serving food daily from noon until 8pm, and the bar stays open until 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and 11pm Thursday to Saturday. Water bowls are dotted around the pub, with free treats available at the bar, and there is a full dog menu including home-cooked meals for four-legged visitors. Free on-site parking keeps things straightforward after a day exploring the Lakes.
Dog-friendly rooms are available for overnight stays, with dog beds, towels, bowls and a doggy welcome pack provided for canine guests. Whether it is a post-Kirkstone-Pass pint or a longer stay in the Troutbeck Valley, dogs are very much part of the welcome here.
