Queenswood Arboretum

Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum near Hereford is Herefordshire Wildlife Trust's most visited nature reserve, with waymarked trails through ancient woodland, a nationally important arboretum and a Gruffalo sculpture trail. Dogs are welcome on leads in the woodland and visitor areas, and can be off-lead in the arboretum under close control, so you can explore the tree collections and trails together with flexibility.

Facilities include on-site parking, toilets, a Woodland Café where well-behaved dogs can come inside, visitor centre and gift shop. The trails wind through semi-natural ancient woodland and the arboretum, both designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The Gruffalo sculpture trail is a favourite with families, and the playground offers a pause for younger visitors while dogs wait with a patient human nearby. The site is open daily from dawn to dusk, with the visitor centre open 10am to 4pm and the café serving from 9am to 4pm.

It's a proper tree-filled wander with plenty of sniff stops, muddy-paw potential and space to stretch legs. The combination of woodland, trails and dog-friendly café makes it a practical day out, especially when the forecast promises rain and you need somewhere with shelter nearby.
