That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Ripon Walled Garden is the sort of place that works beautifully when a dog-friendly day needs a softer pace and a bit of breathing room. Once the Bishop’s Palace kitchen garden and now a peaceful visitor attraction run by Ripon Community Link, it offers serene surroundings along with things to see and do, a café, a garden nursery and gift shop.

That mix makes it especially appealing for visitors with dogs who want more than a quick lap and leave. It is easy to imagine a gentle wander, a pause for coffee and a general sense that everyone, including the dog, has come down a gear in the nicest possible way. It also has real heart behind it, creating opportunities for people with learning disabilities. A calm, feel-good Ripon stop with proper depth to it.

Good to know:

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome on leads in the Walled Garden, Orchard and Woodland, which makes this a lovely spot for a calmer sniff-and-stroll. Please clean up after them and take any waste home with you. Only assistance dogs can go inside the café, but dogs on leads are welcome at the outdoor tables for a post-walk sit-down.
