Rockingham Castle is a 900-year-old castle and gardens set in the Welland Valley near Market Harborough, offering a proper day out with the dog in the grounds. Dogs are welcome on lead through the formal gardens and parkland, though they're not allowed inside the Castle itself except for assistance animals. Outside tours, seasonal events and a tea room make it a substantial visit.

The gardens and grounds give you and the dog plenty to explore, from the rose garden and wild garden to the Flag Tower and open parkland. Dogs must stay on lead throughout and the Castle interior is reserved for assistance animals only. Performance events may not suit all dogs, so check ahead if you're planning around a special day.

The site opens Tuesday and Sunday, with grounds opening at 11:00 and closing at 16:00. A large grass car park is included in admission, around five minutes' walk from the Castle. Accessible spaces are available.
