The Royal Oak is a traditional canal-side pub in Pencelli, a couple of miles south-east of Brecon. Dogs are welcome inside on a lead, making it a practical stop after a towpath walk or a day exploring the Brecon Beacons.

Food is served daily from noon until 10pm and the pub has a warm, local feel with plenty of space for tired dogs to settle under the table. You'll find real ale, hearty pub dishes and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere for dogs and their walkers.

Pencelli sits on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, so it's easy to build a walk-and-pub loop into your day. The village is quiet, the towpath is flat and the pub delivers exactly what you need: somewhere your dog is properly welcome indoors while you catch your breath.
