Rufford Abbey Country Park is a grand heritage estate on the edge of Sherwood Forest, a short drive from Nottingham, where dogs are always welcome across its 150 acres of parkland, woodland and lakeside paths.
The dramatic abbey ruins sit at the heart of the site, free to explore once you've paid for parking and the open grounds make a brilliant outing when you and your dog need space, history and a proper leg-stretch in one visit. The park combines formal gardens, sculpture trails and woodland walks with family-friendly facilities, so expect a lively mix of school groups, picnickers and other dog walkers, especially at weekends. Dogs must stay on a lead throughout and aren't allowed inside Abbey Tales or the children's adventure playground, but everywhere else is yours to roam.
On-site parking is charged and fills up quickly in good weather.
